My visit to our local Library
I visited my local Library today to firstly reacquaint myself(having not ventured into this Library for some 12 years) with its facilities and secondly to get some ideas for my role as Teacher Librarian. I was amazed to see how many people were utilising the Library and the Librarians. Each computer was busy and people were scattered throughout the Library. Surprisingly there were just as many people in the Fiction as Reference areas and I was pleased with how many digital resources were available. I am going to make this a weekly outing for my family on Saturday Mornings.

Residential School - The Role of the Teacher Librarian
After completion of Residential School I believe that the role of the Teacher Librarian is evolving. I now realise that the Teacher Librarian within a school has to be the most Technological "savvy" and able to resource the latest information for all users within the school community. Oh, what learning there is to do if I am to reach this level!!!!!
I believe at this point in time that if Librarians do not "move with the times" then their role is in danger of becoming obsolete.
The point that stood out to me the most was that the latest Interactive Technology is not just about locating information.
I am pleased to say that I recognise the difference between ASLA and ALIA and how they both work together.
I am fascinated by the use of I-pod's for recorded learning sessions and listening to e-books. I am all for the idea of a "mobile-learner" (being a Mum of 3 Foster children) and I have just discovered that my Mobile phone is an MP3 player as well so I look forward to downloading the lectures onto my Mobile phone. My goal for this Session is to examine how I can use I-pods effectively in a school library.
Lastly I realised that even before I become a School Librarian I need to carefully examine what Digital resources are "out- there". So over the next 2 years whilst I complete this course I will attempt to build up a list of resources.

I'm excited!.
Well I have just opened a blog account. My daughter, who is in Year 4, was very helpful and instructed me through each step. She has been learning all about blogs at school.
